At the start of the new year, when the planning bug tends to hit me, I reached out to some of my Instagram friends to see if they wanted to join me for a Valentine’s Day Tablescape hop. I’m not exactly known for planning ahead, so I was glad to be ahead of the game – for once! I mean planning Valentine’s Day when we just put away our Christmas decor!?! Crazy right?! I’m so glad I did because I was able to partner up with a talented group of ladies for this hop and I can’t wait to show you what we came up with for that special dinner!

With a few weeks to plan, I immediately started to conceptualize my design. This is the fun part for me….Allllll the ideas started swirling in my head! Our dining table seats 8 and for our special dinner, I knew it would just be the two of us – so a table for two was in order! I used our vintage end table that I had recently painted, it was the perfect size for two. I decided to set up in our living room knowing that the fireplace would be the perfect backdrop. I wanted the setting to be soft and romantic with an understated Valentine theme.

The Set Up

For the tablecloth I used this gray linen table cloth with it’s tassel edge. I love how it hangs 3/4 length down the table, but left the legs of the table showing. For both the table and mantel, I started with some faux greenery. I looked for long plugs that would cascade nicely. From there I added a soft blush colored burlap ribbon with fringed edges, along with these beautiful white Wax flower branches from Pier 1. I then weaved a paper heart garland through the centerpiece.

For the place setting, I used my favorite scalloped edge dinner plates and these adorable gray and white check salad plates from pier 1. Also from pier 1 are these blush color ruffle-edge napkins. So pretty! For the napkin rings I used a wired berry garland to wrap the napkin, then added a paper heart. White lanterns completing my romantic table for two.

About the Mantel

The mantel holds layered mirrors and picture frames with a few fun blush tissue flowers with greenery and flowers cascading.
