Baked brie with preserves.

Baked Brie with Preserves

This Baked Brie with Preserves is an easy party appetizer made with creamy Brie, fruit preserves, chopped pecans, and fresh thyme. I used apricot preserves for this version, but you can easily customize it with your favorite preserves for a simple, elegant appetizer that's ready in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 wheel Brie (8 ounces)
  • ¼ cup apricot preserves (or your favorite fruit preserves)
  • 2 tablespoon chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, plus a few small sprigs for garnish (optional)
  • Crackers, crostini, or sliced baguette, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Place the Brie in a small baking dish or Brie baker. Using a sharp knife, lightly score the top of the Brie in a crosshatch pattern.
  • Spread the apricot preserves evenly over the top of the Brie.
  • Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the preserves, gently pressing them into place.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the Brie is soft and creamy in the center. Depending on your oven, it may need a few additional minutes.
  • Remove the Brie from the oven and sprinkle with the fresh thyme leaves.
  • Garnish with a few extra chopped pecans and thyme sprigs, if desired.
  • Serve immediately with crackers, crostini, or toasted baguette slices while the Brie is warm and melty.

Notes

Nutrition information is an estimate and will vary depending on the brand of Brie, preserves, and other ingredients used, as well as the crackers or bread served alongside it.
  • Use preserves, not jelly. Preserves contain pieces of fruit, giving the topping more texture and a prettier finished appearance.
  • Bring the Brie closer to room temperature. If you have time, let the Brie sit on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes before baking. It warms more evenly.
  • A small baking dish works best. Choose a dish just slightly larger than the wheel of Brie to help contain the melted cheese.
  • Let it rest for a few minutes. Allow the Brie to sit for about 3 to 5 minutes before serving. It will still be warm and gooey but won't immediately ooze everywhere when cut into.
