Happenings Around the Nest - Week 9
This week's Happenings Around the Nest
Fridays are for catching up, and around here that means sharing a little glimpse into life at home. From current projects to simple joys and the snapshots filling my camera roll, I pull it all together in one place. So pour a cup of coffee and settle in. Here's what has been happening around the nest.

The Bird Rule: Old Beliefs, New Perspective
In my family, there's a long-standing superstition: no birds in the house. My Irish grandmother believed that having birds, or even bird prints, inside invited bad luck. My mother, my aunts, and my two sisters still hold fast to that tradition. I just know better than to buy anything with birds on it for anyone. The roots of it trace back to old Irish folklore, where birds were thought to be messengers between the living and the spirit world.
But as for me, I've never been great at following those kinds of rules... My home is full of birds, from paintings to figurines to the occasional feather tucked into a vase, and they make me happy. Maybe I'm rewriting the superstition into something softer, where birds mean beauty, creativity, and freedom instead of bad luck.
How about you? Do you welcome a little bird decor into your home (and take your chances ;)) or do you steer clear? I'd love to know - feel free to leave a comment below.

A Big Milestone at the Nest!
Last week marked a big moment for me and for Celebrated Nest. After years of learning, creating, and showing up to grow this little corner of the internet, my blog reached a new milestone. The number of visits to my site officially met the level needed to move up to the next tier with a company called Raptive. For those who don't speak "blog world," think of it as getting a promotion at work, one that recognizes all the hours, heart, and persistence poured into what I do. Blogging is my full-time job, and milestones like this remind me that the effort is paying off.
Of course, none of this would be possible without you. Every visit, every comment, every share helps this community grow. So thank you for being here, for reading, and for making this dream of mine a reality.

Celebrating Our Sweet Millie
This week we're celebrating a very special milestone: our sweet granddaughter Millie's first birthday. It's hard to believe a whole year has passed since she arrived and filled our lives with so much joy and light. Watching her grow has been pure magic, and she has brought a new kind of happiness to our family that's hard to put into words. We'll be celebrating her big day this weekend, and I'm cherishing every moment.

Thanks so much for spending a bit of your time with me today. It always feels good to share the in-the-moment parts of life, not just the finished photos and wrapped-up projects. If you ever feel like hitting reply and sharing what life looks like in your world, I would truly love that.
Missed the last few weeks? Catch up here!
Thanks again for being here. I hope your weekend holds something quiet and cozy.
