Happenings Around the Nest - Week 10

This week's Happenings Around the Nest
It has been a quieter week here, the kind of week that feels very November. Nothing flashy, just real life and a lot of behind the scenes work on the blog. I've been catching up on projects, planning for the holidays, and getting things organized before the busy season kicks in. So grab a cup of coffee and let's catch up.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving

My sisters and I have been in planning mode. We got together this week for my sister Cynthia's birthday and the conversation quickly shifted to Thanksgiving at my sister Jenn's house. The three of us always end up planning the holiday together, even when one of us is hosting.

We talked table settings, serving pieces, and what kind of centerpiece Jenn wants to do this year. I volunteered our family's favorite creamed onions and my stuffed dates, and it already feels like the holiday is taking shape.

A sweet little birthday project

During the summer I found a small wooden cradle while thrifting. It needed some love, so I painted it and tucked a new baby doll inside for Millie's first birthday. She is just beginning to explore pretend play, and watching her hug her little doll was one of those simple Grammy moments that stays with you.

A very unglamorous blogging week

On the work side of things, it has been a lot of updates. Think indoor plant posts, refreshes on older tutorials, and the kind of maintenance that never really gets seen but makes everything run smoother. Blogging is such a funny mix of exciting new projects and long stretches of quiet tune ups, and this week definitely leaned toward the second.

This week in a quick snapshot

• Trending: My DIY Christmas tree planter post is taking off. Have you tried this flip trick yet?

• Watching: I finished All Her Fault on Peacock. Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning were so good. Have you watched it?

• What I bought: The Upside Down Cooking cookbook for some new sheet pan ideas, and the Magnolia tea towel I have been eyeing for way too long. What was your latest fun little purchase? Comment below!

If you feel pressure to jump into Christmas early, you might like this. I shared why I decorate after Thanksgiving and why slowing down this month feels right for our family. It resonated with so many of you this week and feels fitting as we get closer to the holiday.
