Happenings Around the Nest - Week 6
Welcome to this week's Happenings Around the Nest!
Every Friday, I love pulling back the curtain a bit and sharing what has been going on here at home. The projects in progress, the little family moments that made me smile, and a few thoughts I have been carrying through the week. So pour yourself a cup of coffee and come sit with me for a minute. Here is what has been happening around here lately.
Fall has arrived!
Fall has officially settled into Massachusetts, and I'm here for it. The mornings are cool enough for a jacket, the trees are turning full force, and I've been trying to soak in as much of it as I can on my walks with the girls š¾. Some days I have to talk myself into leaving my warm coffee cup behind at 6:30 in the morning, but once we're out there, the crunch of leaves underfoot and the sun shining through the trees make it worth it every time.
Ray and I both love this time of day. No phones, just chatting or planning, just us too (and⦠well, the girls too š¾). It's a great way to connect before the day really begins.

A day with my aunt
Last weekend I spent a morning with my Aunt Andrea, who has a true love for learning and makes every outing feel a little more meaningful. We visited Weston Nurseries, Hopkinton, MA for a class on lasagna bulb planting - layering spring bulbs like daffodils, tulips, and crocus so they bloom in succession. We didn't rush; we just chatted, absorbed something new, and wandered the greenhouse afterward. It reminded me how special it is to keep learning alongside someone you love.

Feeling nostalgic
Earlier this week, I shared a post that means a lot to me, the story behind the 30 Firefighter Santas I have collected for Ray over the years. With his retirement this year, I know unpacking them will feel different: nostalgic, a little tender, and full of gratitude. In case you missed it you can read that story here: Firefighter Santas: 30 Years of Service and Holiday Memories ā

A birthday celebration
And because it's been a week of celebrations, on Sunday we gathered for my dad's 84th birthday. I baked his favorite cake, a simple one with toasted coconut on top (you can find the recipe here). My sister's house felt full and joyfully busy. What made it extra special was having Millie there, my Dad's first great-grandchild. She's 11 months old now, and everything is new to her - the candles, the singing, the rustle of wrapping paper. It has been years since we've had a little one on my side of the family (my youngest niece, Jillian, is now 17), and Millie brings such joy and brightness to these moments - she makes everything feel fun again.

It's not all perfectly decorated tables or calm mornings around here, but this week felt like a reminder that small moments - family, fresh air, the rhythm of the season - are what make home feel full.

Wishing you a cozy and content weekend,
